Cryptography at the core of the Quantum revolution

The advent of quantum computing is upon us.

This disruptive technology is already offering a glimpse of some extraordinary opportunities, potentially beneficial to all fields of human activity, and requiring us to ensure it is not only developed but also kept stable, over the long term.

But quantum computers’ ability to solve complex mathematical problems more quickly could also undermine data security and indeed all economic activities underpinned by encryption. So while quantum computing is still some years away, the threat it poses is very real, and we need to start thinking now about how to counter that threat.
